Decorate a pen with flowers

The kid activity:
Silk flowers are used to top pens or pencils. With an adult's supervision, they can be very easy to make too.

You'll need plastic flowers (gerbera daisies work well), ballpoint pens, hot glue, green florist's tape and scissors.

To start, cut the silk flowers so one or two inches of stem are remaining. With an adult's supervision, place a small dot of hot glue at the end of the ballpoint pen. Press the flower into the glue at the end of the pen, and hold for a few seconds. Next wrap the glued flower with florist's tape so half of the pen is covered.

Variations:
These decorated pens look good in a bouquet. Place many of these flowers in a clear glass for pretty presentation.

YeahBaby.com thoughts:
We love any activity that encourages children to write and develop intellect. Creating the pen will help them become a Van Gogh. The completed pen will help them write like Hemmingway.
