Toddler activity:
Toddlers and little ones put on funny hats, work clothes or costumes to entertain themselves and others. We suggest buying an old trunk or toy box to store the 'dress up' clothes. This clothing can then be kept separate from other clothes, shoes and jewelry. Make this the "dress up trunk!"
Since little girls love to dress up like mommy, stock your trunk with clothes from your own closet. Items might include old clothes, scarves, and jewelry no longer needed. Other clothing can be found at second-hand shops, garage sales and vintage clothing shops. Look out for unusual items that are glittery, bright or lacy. Remember to think like a little girl!
Using makeup is fun for little girls, but we suggest keeping your makeup supply limited, and out of the trunk space. It could be problematic to leave the bright lipsticks and blushes readily available.
Variations:
Find children's costumes online or from specialty item stores. Costumes might include princess, Disney-themed or pageant wear. An especially good time to find costumes are the days after Halloween since costumes will be on sale.
YeahBaby thoughts:
Don't forget the boys! Boys can also have fun with this activity. Boy costumes include pirates, ghosts, monsters and clowns. The lil guys love all these characters!
